MPDIK response about store opening

Main Campus, 13 April - Majlis Penghuni Desasiswa Indah Kembara (MPDIK) announced that the Desasiswa Indah Kembara (IK) store opened only on 23 March, 24 March, 13 April and 14 April 2024 for a new semester.

According to Secretary of MPDIK, Nur Aimi Nabihah Nordin, Biological Sciences 3, MPDIK received messages from the residents about many of them coming back to the hostel lately due to most schools having online classes for the first three weeks of the semester.

“After discussion, MPDIK decided to extend the store opening to 28 March 2024, so that the residents could get their things after they came back,” she said.

Aimi explained that the store opened later at 10.00pm during the fasting month to be compatible with after breaking the fast and Muslim prayer. Thus, it was convenient for MPDIK to open the store and for the residents to pick up items at that time.

“For 13 April onwards, we would reopen the IK store at 8.30pm on the weekends for one hour per day,” she added.

Aimi also said that MPDIK welcomes all residents’ suggestions. They would consider it if anyone requested to extend the store opening date.

IK resident, Che Xin Wei, Communication 2, said that the office hours of the IK office are only on weekdays. However, she could not take her items from the store during weekdays.

“This situation caused she could not come back to hostel on the earlier in April as her things were in the store, it might be inconvenient for her,” she added.

Che suggested that MPDIK could research the date when residents returned to the hostel, then add more slots for the store opening so that the residents would not need to wait many days for the store to open.
