Studying was compulsory for all Malaysians when they reached their age. People could get knowledge and learn new things through reading but not limited to textbooks. Therefore, people should take extra reading books until they are old.

Editor in chief at Sin Chew Daily, Kuik Cheng Kang, proposed that reading should become a daily habit for everyone as there is no end to learning and no end to reading.

“Generations have gone through, and with the development of ChatGPT and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the era of reading paper books may no longer be glorious. Hoped that the bookstore can be a check-in place for readers and a place for young people to hang out,” he said.

Recently, BookFest @ Malaysia 2024 organised by POPULAR Malaysia came back with the theme ‘Reading Together’ to inspire everyone to engage in lifelong learning by offering a wide selection of books and activities.

“Sin Chew Daily as a media partner of the BookFest @ Malaysia 2024 played a role to bring information about Chinese book markets aboard to readers. Since we strongly believe that reading is the only way that may improve the development of a country so that the next generation could connect with the world,” Kuik added.

Director of POPULAR Holdings Limited, Simon Shen, emphasized that POPULAR encouraged the development of reading habits 100 years ago to cultivate wisdom and the importance of books in shaping talent.

“Even today of social media, instant messaging and video streaming, the written word is still an active and forever way to communicate. The tremendous developments brought about by technology have not decreasing the habit of reading; on opposite, it became more crucial than ever,” Simon said.

He added that the value of words from the book to attract the audience, inspire their intellectual interest and create a sense of community always stays in style. A wealth of information, concepts, and stories may be explored through any book.

A customer, Suck VM Lily, said she brought her children to visit the BookFest @ Malaysia 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) to encourage them to read more extra books such as fiction, newspapers and literature.

“The book festival included Chinese books, English books, local novels and many books published overseas. The variation of the books suitable for my children to choose their favorited one,” she said.

Suck added that there was a new book-sharing session by Lim Choon Lean, it was a good opportunity to hear about the history of book creation and the story behind the book. She believed that this sharing must be able to inspire many people to read the book.

“There was no end reading, I have some reading book when I am free until now. I hoped that the new generations could have reading habit and the parents should be the role models for their children, so our country would reached the level of a developed country in the future,” she expressed.
